Natural gas quality parameters in national regulations
Excerpt from Decision No. 420 of 22 November 2019 of the Energy Regulatory Agency on the approval of the Natural Gas Network Code
The quality parameters, physical and chemical indicators and other characteristics of natural gas are established in accordance with the quality standards approved by the national standardisation body and set out in point 26 of the Gas Network Code.
The quality parameters of natural gas delivered to/from natural gas networks are determined in accordance with the conditions set out in the Network Code, interconnection agreements and operating agreements concluded between the parties involved in the natural gas delivery process.
The quality parameters of natural gas shall be indicated in the operating agreements at the interconnection point and in the natural gas supply contracts.
At the delivery and takeover of natural gas, the information on the quality parameters of natural gas, as determined by the TSO, shall be transmitted.
At the delivery and takeover of natural gas, the party responsible for complying with the quality parameter requirements of the natural gas is the system operator upstream of the delivery point.
The quality parameters of natural gas at the entry points into the natural gas transmission network shall be determined using online chromatographs and hygrometers, with hourly recording of their values.
Natural gas quality zone – the zone where the natural gas quality parameters are considered to be homogeneous and constant for a certain period of time, being supplied through one or more physical entry points into the natural gas transmission network or the natural gas distribution network;
The natural gas quality parameters determined by the TSO shall be used for all commercial natural gas delivery and take-over points in this zone. The calorific value corresponding to each natural gas quality zone is determined monthly as the weighted average of the calorific values for each entry point supplying this zone.
Quality parameters of natural gas „Vestmoldtransgaz” LLC
The quality of natural gas at „Vestmoldtransgaz” LLC is measured using online gas chromatographs, online dew point analysers for water and hydrocarbons, and hydrocarbon analysers installed at the interface with adjacent TSOs and DSOs.
In accordance with the clauses of the Interconnection Agreements concluded with adjacent TSOs, the minimum natural gas quality requirements at the interconnection points are as follows:
